WHAT WE DO

The Bail/Bond Justice Project has two overarching goals:

  • Change unjust practices in setting bail in Orange County
  • Provide direct support to those being impacted by the bail system.

To achieve these goals, the Project has four parts:

  • Court observation
  • Assessment of Orange County bail/bond data to document equity issues in setting bail/bond amounts
  • Development of an Orange County Bail/Bond Fund
  • Foundational community education and outreach.

Project partners have formed teams to implement each part. The four part program is being phased, with easier parts, such as court observation, launched in early 2019, and the most complex part of the program, development and funding of an Orange County Bail/Bond Fund, launched in mid-2019.
